Intuitive Painting & Drawing
• The RI.Perspective
The retreat “Intuitive Painting & Drawing” takes shape as a five-day immersion at Chiaraluce Country House, where art-making becomes the fulcrum of the experience. The programme translates Kristin Romberg’s approach into a path grounded in physical impulse and the sensory response to matter, moving the work away from technical control and toward a more direct listening to gesture.
The process unfolds through the use of raw cotton canvas and humble materials such as paper and cardboard, chosen to suspend judgment on the outcome and encourage the authenticity of the creative act. It also holds an attentiveness to the delicate balance between human beings and nature, with a gaze turned toward more fragile ecosystems and the world of insects.
The days alternate intensive studio sessions with moments of landscape observation — such as sunrise on the beach or a visit to Ripatransone — so that the surrounding environment enters the creative process in a tangible way.
Hospitality and the communal dimension also contribute to the overall quality of the retreat: the cuisine, shaped by the rhythms of the organic garden, accompanies the journey with the same attention to seasonality and place. The final shared moment, open also to local guests, becomes not only a way of recognising what has taken shape over the days spent at Chiaraluce, but also part of what participants carry with them: meaningful connections and a renewed perspective on what truly matters.
